Presentation of HGS
HGS (Hierarchical Geometric Stream) is an engineered binary format designed specifically to bridge the gap between massive, semantic BIM (Building Information Modeling) data and high-performance web visualization.
In an era dominated by cloud-based workflows, HGS is designed to operate on multi-million node industrial datasets with a sub-200ms perceived total lifecycle latency and a memory footprint far leaner than existing alternatives (e.g., maintaining ~120 MB total working memory for 3 million nodes).
By focusing on mathematical and structural purity, optimized multi-pass deduplication, and zero-copy memory mapping for geometry, HGS enables forward-only, lock-free streaming and rendering via WebAssembly and WebGPU. It is, conceptually, the new "PDF" for sharing and navigating complex 3D engineering information on any platform.
Key Performance Targets (The POC Benchmarks)
- Parsing Speed: Forward-only, O(1) lookup-friendly parsing designed to avoid recursion.
- Memory Efficiency: extraordinarilly lean runtime footprint, utilizing optimized multi-pass deduplication and arena compactors.
- Streaming Performance: Lock-free runtime architecture with zero-copy data transmission for immediate high-FPS rendering.
- Typographic Clarity: High-DPI aware interface with pixel-perfect native Windows font rendering.
